Apparently you haven't been following the news very well. You have chosen to hear and make up what you want to hear. American is not becoming a bad joke either.
1. There is an investigation going on on what really happened. Evidence has to be studied before any conclusions are made about anybody.
2. America is not a joke of any kind. There are a few jokers around here seems like.
3. Tragic things happen everyday constantly. The war reports come in all the time.
4. Yes, there are outrageous reports coming out all the time.
5. We were outraged with the Oklahoma bombings when they happened also. Why didn't you bring that up?

The worst part of it is that they KNEW he was doing all that and did nothing. It would have looked like racial profiling and an attack on the "Islamic community" in America. Political Correctness is going to kill us all if it can.
FoxNews this morning interviewed an Islamic advisor. Advisor to whom I couldn't tell. She played down the influence of fanatic Jihadist Islam on the killer.
He was brought down by a pistol packing mama -- by a woman! Tickles me half to death.
But we still officially frown on racial profiling.

America enforces the concept of equality.
So, the Army, in an effort to comply with the concept of equality, cannot single out a member of a radical religious sect that seeks to overthrow or criticise the American Government.
Because far far too many Christian religious sects do the EXACT SAME THING.

Like i said in a previous question, the military is apparently desperate for new recruits and is not checking backgrounds thoroughly enough, especially for people with psychological problems.
There is no one to blame, but the military.
Meeting a recruit quota has apparently become the number one priority, no matter a persons condition.

Having worked in law enforcement in Hawaii during the 1980s and 90s, I can tell you that the FBI and the DOD (Dept. of Defense) "heads" (and their underlings) do not like each other, and generally try to avoid contact with each other.
When two law enforcement agencies are on "the outs" with each other, crucial necessary information isn't exchanged between the two agencies, and the result is exactly what happened at Ft. Hood.
Neither agency will learn from that incident, so expect further attacks "by Americans, against Americans" to continue. Timothy McVeigh (Murrah Federal Bldg. - Oklahoma City) was the first, and more will happen.
Bet on it.

Worse than the attacks is the Islamic infiltration, slow and sure. Nearly 18% of the residents in America are Moslem. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)is the second most powerful political action group in Washington; more even than the NRA, and just behind the pan-union lobby.
They are rewriting school textbooks and building mosques on college campuses. Soon they will no longer need to attack. They will own the government and the media.

This is very easy to figure out. Our politicians have figured out an easy way to get elected. Import votes from poor, third world countries. The problem is that most of the people from there hate America badly, but want to live here to escape grinding poverty. Solution? Just pretend not to hear their hatred. Go into denial mode. Say it's only a tiny minority who feel that way. Enforce this with sensitivity training.
It's a win, win for everyone. The politicians get elected, people become more tolerant, and we only have to put up with a few violent attacks. Until we become overwhelmed by sheer numbers and then the real fun begins.

People snap under the best of conditions - and these certainly aren't the best of times are they?
Out of over 300 million folks - one shoots up an army base.....what amazes me is that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.
It's not enough just to be alleged to be a terrorist That's part of what due process is deciding are you a terrorist? Agree/disagree Why

You're reading For those followng Ft. Hood on the news, how can this happen after 911? How? This is outrageous. The guy was shouting terrorism from the rooftops and gets hired by our own forces? America is becoming a bad joke.

I don't know what set you off dear, but you have not read my question or listened to the news very well, not me. The guy was a raging terrorst spouting hate to anyone who would listen. America is becoming a bad joke. They spend billions in defense and let this happen at our front door. I am outraged. Keep defending this and you will have no country to defend. It was total and utter neglect in the very spot where this should not be able to happen. What does Okalahoma have to even do with this. No one could see that coming. This was unforgivable. And I hear the news plenty or I would not have written this question.

Look you two. We are all on the same side. This question did not imply that anyone should think anything. Au contraire. Some guy who shot up dozens of people works for a military base meant to protect this country. The guy has been shown to be someone who has interrupted several college classes and took over the class changing the subject expected and starts talking about terrorism and how Iraq needs to be understood. He talked about religion yes, and he just freaked everyone more than once. This, a psychiatrist working in one of the world's largest miliatary bases in the world meant to protect America. That is what I meant by America is turning into a joke. How can this happen? We are spending literally billions of dollars to protect this country in defense and some yoyo can just act like a comlplete psycho, a doctor no less, and we don't see this coming? If you have to sling arrows at me, then I see how this could happen.
