Where do ants come from when you leave food out if you have closed the doors and windows?

They come in from outside, keithold. They are like an army that "invades" from any opening they can find. Cracks in the walls, vents, doors that are not totally sealed shut, windows. You can't keep them out but you can "discourage" them. There are some good "anti-ant and anti-roach" remedies. I get mine from my local Farmer's Market store. But even Wal-Mart has some good ones. The key with ants is to kill the queen, which remains hidden. That is what the best anti-ant remedies do.
