When you answer questions do you follow specific users or chose those whom you never answered or go by what the question is?

I look at the home page, first. I go through it numerous times, until the same questions have appeared a few times, and the others are uninteresting to me. Then I go to a category I keep an eye on, and go through unanswered questions, answering those I can. Prior to becoming a CL, I also flagged questions that didn't belong into (more) correct categories. If I get bored, I may go to my friends' Q&A and start going through them. I don't normally pay too much attention to who asks the questions I answer until I'm drawn back to it with a comment or rating. Many times I've found I've answered friends' questions long after the fact. ;-)

I go by what the question is but I only answer off my friends list. Lately Ive had so much trouble getting that list up and had to go to the home page and it drives me crazy. Ive found that by answering my friends list I dont run into questions that offend me like Ive found on the home page so often.
