When you're talking about someone and he or she unexpectedly shows up.
I don't use the phrase, but I hear it a lot when I arrive somewhere.....
When you are talking to someone else about a certain person, usually not in a good way and you look up and you see that person.
When Ive been talking about someone and they walk in the room
When introducing you to my ex-wife.
When you and someone are talking about someone, and then they turn up and join the conversation.

The original phrase was "Speak of the devil and he appears". That belief led people to "talk around" the devil, referring to the devil with names like "old boy". The phrase later became shortened to be something people said loosely when someone being talked about happened to appear at that instant, as if that person were the devil appearing on cue.

Ohhh "Heaven's no!" "God forbid!" The devil can be spoken of, he just cannot be worshipped unless you are on very dysfunctional character. The devil is not all that serious a word and can mean a lot more than just the Anti Christ.
They name everyone after God in India, do you think those people all personify God every moment? Same deal.
Mostly during Halloween when a little boy knocks dressed as a little devil.
