  • The only thing I would do different from my own parents would be to raise my kids in the church. I had the best parents in the world. Still married and in love after 27 years.
  • I think I would encourage them to seek adventure and experience life. My parents were lovely but didn't encourage ambition or curiosity and definitely not risk-taking.
  • We give more physical affection and less physical violence (for discipline). My parents weren't bad, but they weren't as emotionally involved. They were also a bit too severe when punishment was in order.
  • When he (our boy) is told he is not allowed to do something I always make sure I have said 'no' for a valid reason. When he asks why I make sure I never say 'becasuse I said so' as my Mother would say to me. I also make sure there is lots of laughter in the house and that it is more loving both physically and emotionally. My parents were OK but my Mother was always in a bad mood.
