  • Even if that is true. It doesn't change the fact that it is not other peoples responsibility to save you money. It is up to each person to decide if they can afford children or not if they can get married or not. For example- John gets someone pregnant when he was not working and cant afford the child but its okay because the tax payers will pay for his mistake. If you cant afford something then try harder, or work until you can. Simple.
  • In the UK if you earn over a certain about you pay between 8% and 11% of your income towards your national insurance contibutions. This also pays for pensions and many other benfits and allowances which you may need in times of need in addition to healthcare though.
  • I live in BC Canada I made 80K last year, payed 15k in income tax. Then there is a %12 sales tax on most products you buy, at the register. Food/clothing is only %6. Go ahead and compare
  • ... and Obama's big-government people would decide if you get lifesving care when you need it to survive. No bargain at any price.
  • in all 29 other economically advanced OECD nations, the total spending on each person's health services is $4,333 whereas in the united states the total spending is $8,333 and 47 million of our 306 million are uninsured and another 100 million are under-insured. i submit to you that if the united states followed my health care reform plan, it would cover everybody, provide better coverage, reduce future expenses through research and prevention programs, and we'd spend only $5,333, saving the typical person $3,000 a year or $12,000 a year for a family of four. so, while those folks in socialize countries might have to pay some more taxes, on average, they and their employer pay A LOT less in insurance premiums, co-payments, co-insurances than currently and, of course, much more than socialized nations.
  • A good at-a-glance comparison of income tax rates, corporate and individual, by country is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Income_Taxes_By_Country.svg .
  • Have any of you thought about saving money for your own health care? For what you, the insured, pay in monthly premiums, deductibles, and copays each year to enrich the insurance scams, we would have enough money to pay our own bills and also get the interest for it. People have been so scared about "catastrophic illnesses" that we are willing to pay the outrageous costs. Talking about medical research, the companies' could use the advertising money they pay out for these fabulous drugs (btw) these drugs cost over $1,000 for a week or month's worth. I edited out my not so helpful sentences! Sorry, guys.
  • Socialized medicine kills people. To know how much you are saving you have to figure in the value of the lives lost to the waiting line. You also have to figure in the largest number of all: the cumulative lives lost due to a slowing of medical advances!
  • It works out to close to 30% of my wages. It all depends under witch tax bracket you fall under...how much you make. . I gladly pay taxes for the heal-care system we have in Canada...would be glad to pay more.
  • cheerio, I was sent a letter by Medicare a few years ago saying my Dr. no longer accepted Medicare patients, AND they told me it was Unlawful to use her and pay her Privately. WHOOO. Also add up federal income taxes, state income taxes, sales taxes, utilities taxes and fees, plus telephone, gas, and our hundreds of HIDDEN taxes. We pay a LOT more in taxes than Canada or England. At least there's are up front! BTW, fees ARE taxes.
  • France has the number one rated health care system in the world. (US ranks 37.) The taxes are around 50%, but we all get 6 weeks of paid vacation and the best medical care (as well as other services from the government.) Everything is covered and there is little to no waiting time to see a doctor or get a procedure done. The US pays 17% of it's GDP on health care. France pays only 11% of it's GDP. ttp://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/wealthofnations/archive/2009/08/07/countries-with-the-best-health-care-worldwide.aspx
  • In Canada, socialized medicine has so wrecked healthcare that a mother in Calgary (a major metro of over 1 million) must be sent to Montana to deliver muliple births, since their own system cannot handle it http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2007/08/20/nurses-quads.html The Government of Ontario has thrown up its hands and now sends Windsor patients to Detroit http://freep.com/article/20090820/BUSINESS06/908200420/1319/ When Obama ruins US care, where will Canadians go?
