my thoughts scare me to no end.

Yes. They will just stay bottled up inside without anywhere to go. It would drive me insane. I like to be around people and communicate. I am not a loner. Most things are better when you can do them with someone else.

No, I've been alone with my thoughts from time to time for many years... if you can't stand yourself how can you expect anyone else to stand you?

If you dread the idea of being alone with your thoughts, I suspect you are having an emotional reaction to them. Guilt, remorse, anger, fear, inadequacy and more fall into this unpleasant category. If this is the case, consider the events that initiated this emotional imprint and seek to restore your balance with restitution, justice or forgiveness. Addition: Regarding relentless thoughts, a good article . Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: What It Is and How to Treat It What is obsessive-compulsive disorder? Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an illness that causes people to have unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and to repeat certain behaviors (compulsions) over and over again. We all have habits and routines in our daily lives, such as brushing our teeth before bed. However, for people with OCD, patterns of behavior get in the way of their daily lives. Most people with OCD know that their obsessions and compulsions make no sense, but they can't ignore or stop them. What are obsessions? Obsessions are ideas, images and impulses that run through the person's mind over and over again. A person with OCD doesn't want to have these thoughts and finds them disturbing, but he or she can't control them. Sometimes these thoughts just come once in a while and are only mildly annoying. Other times, a person who has OCD will have obsessive thoughts all the time. http://familydoctor.org/133.xml?printxml

Rarely. It's good to have someone to talk to but it's also good to reflect on yourself personally. Talking to someone can help you sort your own "foolishness" and keep you grounded but being alone with yourself gives a sense of needed individuality... There is a balance...

Sometimes. I find that if an important emotional issue is not resolved with a loved one, then being alone to dwell on it can be unbearable. But if everything is clear and resolved, then being alone can be very relaxing and refreshing.
