Help answer this question below.
on txcn (texas cable news) yesterday they had a report that said that pot and ecstacy are safer than cigarettes or alcohol. they based this on the effect on the body of the user, addictability (yeah, that's my own word) and the resulting behavior and whether that is dangerous to society.
oh, i forgot to answer the legality part. yes, i think it should be legal and i'm sure it will once the government decides to tax it and regulate it.
they should legalize all drugs
I don't think it should be legalized BUT, ... it is absolutely ridiculous that it is perfectly legal to sell alcohol (which is probably a thousand times more deadlier, not counting the medical costs involved with all the various ways alcohol can harm the user and the innocent people around the user), and say NO to a drug that, arguably, has some medical benefit!
I agree with Skel. All drugs should be made legal. The only reason why they aren't is because then the pharmaceutical industry as well as the alcohol industry would lose billions in profit. Is it easier to grow a pot plant in your backyard or to make alcohol or Xanax or percs?
.
It would also affects things such as clothes production and paper. If we used pot paper to make regular lined paper we use everyday, we would be able to replenish the same stock of pot plants up to 4 times in a year where a tree could take 50 years or more. Which is better? +3
I think not, even though I enjoyed it intensely in past years, because people don't have the restraint necessary to not use it at the wrong times(i.e. Flying a plane, driving a car or semi, performing surgery, caring for children, etc.) It could be argued that alcohol is equally misused, but it's effects, and telltale signs of use, are far more obvious to the casual observer, and therefore it is easier for cooler heads to intervene.
Pot is not near as harmful as cigs, and I think it should be legal, but driving drunk is forbidden, yet there are bars, smoking pot is illegal, yet there are head shops,. What sort of twisted evil is that?
Legalize it. Decriminalize it. Use the cops to ferret out terrorists and criminals. The war on drugs? What a waste of money.
God yes, I'm for the legalization of 'em all.... my body (and yours) is not the governments business. :/
Likewise hemp can be used to treat illnesses, make various items... it's just too damn useful to pass up.
Sure, anytime you have black market farm commodity out producing corn and wheat combined it's time to seriously consider the legitimacy of that market.
Yes I think that they should legalize weed. If it was put up for a vote I would sure vote for it to become legal!
There has never been ONE single death that can be directly attributed to smoking pot. But nicotene has killed hundreds of thousands of people, literally.
There has been no reported crimes of any violent nature by pot smokers, but alcohol abuse seems to the reason for most.
If they legalize pot, it will be regulated and taxed, like tobacco and alcohol is. That alone could be a cure for the ailing budget and economy. It would generate more income than anything else I can think of.
The fake war on drugs is and always has been a scam. The government wages war against everything on god's green earth. Why? Profit, that's why.
As far as the safety of legalizing pot to children and the underaged - it would become just as difficult for a minor to obtain pot as it is to get alcohol or tobacco. They would be carded. And it would eliminate the danger of buying the product off the street, in an unsafe environment, if it were sold and regulated.
Plus, unlike the street dealer, who will try to coerce his/her customer into buying a stronger drug, to obtain a better high, the licensed proprietor who is selling pot to the public would never even think of introducing a different drug to his clients.
Yes, along with every other drug, and add to that prostitution. It's peoples' personal business.
I think it should be legal. I think it is harmful but I also think cig. are harmful. I know pot will hurt your brain cells but brain cells die any way from lack of stimuli. I am sure the pot is worse than lack of stimuli but the fact that your brain cells die from other things also does happen. I am not telling everyone that they should take it up but I think if a person is going to drink or smoke I would rather they take up smoking pot. Pot is very hard on your lungs too. I guess it is the worse of two evils but smoking cig. is a continuous amount of smoke in the lungs all day and night when you smok pot you do not do it all day and all night every day.
Yes, I think marijuana should be legal, along with all the other drugs. That way, there'd be no law to rebel against and usage would probably go down.
Also, it'd free up police officers to investigate more serious crimes.
I personally don't think it should become legal. (This is comming from a californian). If they legalize it, they would only do it so they could make more money. I don't see a point in legalizing it. People can already get it lagaly if they actually have a purpose for it.
It's been proven that marijuana isnt as harmfull as almost all other drugs. It really isnt a big deal.
Alcohol ruins more families than everything else. Even heroin.
They should ban that.
No ! The government will just F it up!
I was never too addicted to them but still I was attracted to them - the way they make you feel I haven't found that sensation elsewhere. I usually smoke when I go in the club and I like getting dizzy a lil'. Anyway, for my health I should get more interested in knowing more about cigars.
If drugs were to be legal, a greater demand for drugs may be enforced, and laws may be passed to restrict these current illegal drugs.
oh yea its way overdue
YES YES a hundred times YES.
This is great advice about cigars!!
