"Ask me no questions i'll tell you no lies". Is this a cop out? Have you used it seriously or in jest?

I take it for granted that whenever anyone asks me questions that it gives me the right to tell lies in most situations. An example might be.. when mom asks her teenage daughter what she was doing out so late the night before and daughter told the truth.. wouldn't daughter risk being grounded for life?

It is a cop out, but I have used it seriously because it can be true. Everyone on this planet has lied and some point or another and when you ask some one a question, you run the risk of being lied to.
