  • "The Mormon story" is long and complicated, much too much so to share in a single sitting. It becomes more complicated when you consider the multiple sects within the Mormon denomination, and not all of them agree on all points of history. Such was the case of "Emma: My Story". It was a joint production by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Community of Christ, and the Joseph Smith Family Association. At the time this movie was made, The Community of Christ denied Joseph practiced polygamy. To appease the CoC, the movie gave Emma the line "I won't talk about that" when asked of Joseph's other wives. Films produced by the LdS Church tend to focus on LdS-sanctioned happenings and forget bad things rogue members did (no mention of the Danites' activities).
