  • As to your first question, your doctor and you are the only ones you can answer that. Regarding being up and down answering the phone with it, when I broke my foot, I found it handy to move around on a typist chair, pulling myself with my arms and hands -- I did this even at home. It helped me get around. I can't see it is against the law -- I would think it would be rather bad for the productivity of the country if everyone with a plaster cast stayed away from work.
  • the most coomon foot fracture requiring a cast is a brokin metatarsel, usually the fifth. the big bone on the out side edge. i have had that same fracture no less then 5 times. yeah, i am unlucky like that. but i have also dropped heavy things ond brokin bones in the middle to. regardless of the bone you have brokin...inside your foot is pretty ridged. i have removed casts and returned to work just 2 days after geting it put on. i have denied casting the last 3 times...continued walking as normal. this is NOT recomeneded. but it is very possible. the pain kinda subsides once you develope a rythem to your stepping, balance your weight on your heal and you can make your walk look normal. as far as the caste goes...it is legal...but depending on the building insurance policy, you may be asked to use crutces for your safty.
  • I can't imagine it would ever be against the law. If your doctor says you can go back to work, you need to discuss w/ your employer what your concerns are. I worked while on crutches twice & my employer was very accomodating.
