'Researchers predict that within 20 years ice cover will be completely gone during the warmer months.' . Terrible. Then it will be like living in an oven here near the equator where I live! As it is this summer was hotter than ever before and the monsoon rains have become very erratic. The usual weather pattern has been disrupted. Untimely rains damage crops. Unpredictable weather caused by climate change has made the life of a farmer - well - unpredictable!

'Researchers predict that within 20 years ice cover will be completely gone during the warmer months.' Well, I predict that within 20 years ice will cover entire Earth. Not that any "predictions" qualify as "evidence"

This has been happening for many decades and I would say mankind has a hand in it.With shrinking icecaps the seas have been rising.Wildlife is the first affected,as with the spring time hunt from the polar bears. They hunt seals by swimming between large pieces of floating ice. These pieces are now further apart and they cannot gauge the distances thus drown. With the penguins in the south pole the glaciers have crashed into the shore, and now the breading area inland is almost non accessible. Holland would have to build up their dike system very many feet more,New Orleans would be totally under water. We have seen the results of what happened with the hurricane. There is many low lying areas in Florida, and in many parts of the world.Where is this extra water in the ocean going to go except on land???? So we have a decade to solve the issue,as the levels will slowly go up.It will be interesting to see if we sit and wait or do something about it.

I think the real point of the debate is: Is mankind having this effect or is it simply the natural cycle of the planet? The actual melting of the ice caps, and the rate of the melt is fact. It's been measured. The cause... Well, that's still being debated.

Never mind the fact that ice caps are NOT normal for this planet. We are currently living in an ice age. If one looks at the entire history of the Earth rather than just the last two million years (which is just 0.044% of the Earth's history), one sees ice ages are not he normal conditions for Earth. Rather, normal conditions for this planet are considerably warmer with the poles being ice free.
