I love coffee, but i always find it very difficult to find/make a great cup of coffee in my home. I know Starbucks are great, but i live in ireland (we dont have Starbucks) Any ideas?

Have you tried the newer coffee makers? Everyone I know that has one loves it. (I'm a green tea drinker myself). Try a newer model of coffee maker, that might help!

You need to ensure a few things for a good coffee. Freshly ground beans are the first thing, then ensure that your water is not too hot (just off boiling), as water too hot will burn your coffee, resulting in bitter flavours.

well the secret to a good cup of coffee is to get a kind you like.thats kind of a personal choice.i like costa rican but different coffees have subtle differences in flavor.cheap coffee that you buy at the market can be average to good in flavor.another important thing is to measure the coffee each time .a little too much and the coffee will be bitter,too little the coffee will be weak and bland.so getting the right amount is important.secondly freshly ground beans makes a big difference .i also found the a french press if available helps make a good cup.

When we want to make good coffee, we put on the Italian percolator. We buy Vittoria coffee or similar, and make it in the percolator. If someone wants a long coffee, we add water in the cup afterwards. If they want a caffe' latte , we add the milk. Nothing beats an italian percolated coffee.

You can order coffee online for them . Or try a french press, makes coffee the old fashioned way. Use whole bean coffee, you can grind it fresh at the grocery store!

You don't have any Starbucks in Ireland? There's a solution for that - Just wait. Shouldn't be long. (Aside - I went ex-pat with my family when very young to Brisbane Australia, from Pettigo City, County Fermanagh.)

One reason that brewed-at-home coffee doesn't taste as good is because most consumer level coffee makers have lots of plasic and rubber components. which taint the flavor. Higher end consumer or commercial grade coffee makers use stainless sleel or copper, which don't affect the taste.

we have 2 starbucks in Cork, in ucc and in the airport, gloria jeans i find is very good aswell but is expensice...€3.50 for a medium latte! they can keep it!! argos do good coffee machines, check out some videos on youtube about making a good coffee
