Not that great of a car really. They look dorky as could be, and really aren't worth the extra money. We have a Corolla and it gets about 40 mpg highway. Hybrid cars actually get better city mpg than highway because the electric part is used during stop and go traffic. If you do a lot of highway travel, I would recommend a regular car. You do get a tax credit for owning a hybrid, however. Also, consider the cost of charging your car and how much it will cost in electricity.

Before you commit. Do some research on Volkswagen's TDI's. They can rival and even get better gas mileage than the Prius and don't emit smug. If you're stuck on a hybrid though also take a look at the Honda Insight.
