Juan Gris was not as playful and unscrupulous as Picasso. Juan Gris had a different method, which had been described as "deductive" - he tried to literally "find" his subjects during the process of painting.
The value in comparing these two artists is not in seeing the differences between them, but in seeing how the friendly competition between them to innovate had shaped Cubism, as it was the work of these two artists, spurring each other on, that defined Cubism.

I don't know much about art, but to me Picasso is more subtle and draws my emotions from a darker place where Gris is more vivid and in your face and you feel more of his emotions than your own. Sorry if it wasn't what you were looking for.

About 15 years ago I saw a painting at a famous museum in Amsterdam...It was a minor piece by Picasso. It was composed of a simple vase
