On "I Love Lucy", Ethel was given three different middle names: Louise, Roberta, and Mae. Why?

It is considered a blooper. Ethel’s middle name is Louise but in "The Million-Dollar Idea," Ethel’s middle name changed to Roberta, then in "Ethel’s Home Town," it became Mae.

Now I have always read that her full name was simply Ethel Louise Roberta Mae Potter Mertz. I never knew it to be a blooper. In books, that is her given name and Fred is known as Fredrick Hobart Mertz.
