I have heard this rumor before. However, I seriously doubt it. I have never been able to find find any solid evidence that anyone has actually done this. Second of all, no one really know what the arc actually looked like. I have seen many different interpretations of it and they don't agree on many of the details. So, the description in the bible leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

I very seriously doubt it. So much so I'm willing to take a bit of a risk ans call Pure, Grade A Bull Sh.. on it. Why? 1. Any such result would be easily reproducible - and hence would have been by now. 2. The only result even vaguely related to this topic in Google was this question. Search query: +1961 +"ark" +minnesota +electrical That's just a start...

It's unknown for sure. But the construction does have a bit of truth to it. It would act similarly to the electronic item known as the Leyden Jar/capacitor. But such is speculation. Until one actually gets to inspect the Jewish 'Holy of Holies", speculation it shall remain. http://www.geocities.com/age_of_giants/ancient_technology/ark.html

you say moses? isn't it noah?

I've never read that particular story, but I have read the idea of the ark as a superconductor to explain how it was used as a weapon, and why Uzzah got killed by(as opposed to for) touching it.

I would think that this is not true. The mercy seat, or lid on the ark was supposed to be made of solid gold. In 1961 it was illegal for americans to own gold except in the form of coins or jewelry. Owning bulk gold only became legal during the Ford or Carter admin. And the cost at about 10,000 dollars a pound for gold is prohibitive for most schools. Unless you can show me some documentation, I would have to say this one is false.
