Theft is illegal. So long as Intellectual Property is still property, it is still theft.

I think it should be legal! When downloading said files we encounter hazards just like gambling you never know when that "new" song is going to be a Trojan horse virus. Or something else that can really screw up your computer. Also when you buy the product it is yours, if it is not then you should be able to listen to it or watch it and then return it and only pay for it at it's value that you determine. For example if you did not like it you do not pay. (that will keep them from having ONE good song and a entire cd filled with crap!) Or if you like it you pay the full price!

Doesn't matter either way as the business of non perishable goods has the ear of the law more than the people. In creating something you have to give it up for free or a low price if you wish to sell it and if you protect it and it's protection gets broken your tough. but if a company produces something they sell it at premium and protect it and if it gets broken they use every public resource and law in the book to find the crackers and the people who used it. Double standards and anti democratic as the rich and connected can do more because of their position and wealth.

It should definitely remain illegal. I used to download illegal music before, but one day I just decided that I shouldn't and started buying CDs. That happened like 3 years ago and I still don't know why I had such a change of heart.
