the problem doesnt lie with religion or science and neither should be blamed for the horrible things some people have done. in the name of religion wars have been waged people have been tortured and killed but on the other end people have been inspired to do charity help people feel for them and be better people and if ou look at the basis of the religions the side that people would admire is the side that the religious texts want. science has brought weapons pollution and a million other negative things but it has also lengthed our lives and improved the quality of them its all based on how people use the two

Science has also given us mathematics, electricity, medicine, and an informed method of observing and explaining the Universe. All the atrocities committed using science were just that- through the USE of science and not in the NAME of science. Religion has given only the means to control the masses through the use of fear, superstition and intimidation with no real, provable means for explaining anything that happens in the natural universe. All the horrors committed in the name of God fall on the sick people using mythology to cover their own sickness. Who, also, used scientific methods to torture, destroy and warp the minds of the conquered. Science is a tool and not a ideology proclaiming moral certitude.

Science is like a flashlight in the dark. It is an amazing tool, but when you adhere to science as the final reward and truth, it is it's own punishment, resulting in fear, disbelief in metaphysics; and total dispair; atheism even. At least Agnosticism. Science is the logical, beautiful and non-judgmental portion of the mind of God that allows human beings to function and grow on a physical level. It is not the be-all, end-all answer to anything.... except physical matter. We are not the body. We are spirit, of the ether, the Akasha; spirit can never be physically defined through current scientific principals, and it is time for science to catch up to "TIME" and the NOW.

I'd say that it's not the mere existence of religion or science that should be denounced; the accountability should fall on those that have misused their rung of the ladder.

You're confusing science and technology. Science doesn't have ethical implications (though /scientific experiments/ might). Technology is about application, and that's where you see ethical implications. And, really, people who use technology to do horrible things are probably worse than people who use religion to justify horrible things. However, religious nutters are not averse to using technology either --- and, in fact, both religion and technology are frequently employed by tyrants. Germany in WWII was quite possibly the most technologically advanced country in the world, and it employed both with especial fervor. The authoritarians who rule the U.S. in the late 20th/early 21st century also pander to religious nuts while spending extensively on weaponry.
