My S-I-L is a beautician, I asked her to dye my hair and 2 highlight colors and cut, she quoted me $80. I watch their kids for (barely) gas money. Should I pay or somewhere else and cause problems in the family?

Money is a very delicate issue to bring up with family members. You're in a tough position because if you pay her you're going to be resentful. If you go somewhere else, possibly paying more, you're going to be resentful. And if you raise the issue with her, she's going to be resentful. The only thing I can suggest is laying it out for her just as I have here, letting her know that it's uncomfortable for you and the dilemma you have. Kind of put the ball in her court. Personally, I think it's nervy of her to ask for $80, especially when it can't cost her very much to do the job but on the other hand, if you haven't spoken up for yourself, maybe she assumes that getting gas money for watching the kids is fine with you.
