I would like to determine exactly when a refrigerator I inherited was purchased. I called the store that sold it to my mother, but they said they only keep records back 7 years. What other recourse do I have?

You can look up the make and model number and the brand and look it up on the internet, I don't know how you are going to find out when it was purchased. Why do you even need to know that?

You can probabaly find out when it was manufactured from the serial number - it usually encodes such information. Ask the manufacturer.

You could copy all details on the label affixed at the back of the refrigerator and send it to the manufacturer. If the manufacturer is still in business, they will be able to give you the year of manufacture and date of shipping to the retailer. If the manufacturer is not in business any more there is only one suggestion I could give. Have the refrigerator 'Carbon Dated'!
