My system took all soda out of the schools years ago. I mean really, kids can drink milk, juice, and water at school. That's enough choice for the hours they are there.

Some newer state legislation for the funding of food in public schools is starting to force pop out of school, due to pop essentially lacking any sort of real nutritional value. My high school has to shut down the pop machines over lunch, otherwise they risk losing state funding for their meal program. I believe this is probably applicable to only public schools, since private schools do not receive state funding. In that case, it would just be a decision made by the school. This is more of a move on the part of schools than it is by Pepsi. I doubt Pepsi likes losing sales opportunities to what is probably its most targeted demographic.

It was done because Pepsi was pressured to do so. I cannot tell by whom but the health concern for the kids is the reason. Regular Pops are full of sugar and are the main culprit of child obesity. They are also a danger to diabetics. Sodas are bad for everyone, no matter whether diet or regular. When our children went to school in Germany, they took Sodas out of the vending machines already in 1970. Only milk, cocoa and water was available for them. The USA is far behind....

MOST SCHOOLS WERE ORDERED TOO AND REPLACED WITH JUICES AND BOTTLED WATER. (BOTTLED WATER) IS WORSE THAN SOME TAP WATER AND I PROVED IT, SO WATCH WHAT YOU BUY AND DRINK. THE ORDER CAME FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO LOWER JUNK FOOD.
