  • No, but it does makes talking to you less pleasant. You guys talk about zombies like they are common in society.
  • i read TONS of comic books as a kid and teenager ... didn't make me think i could go flying around and shooting lasers out of my fingers ... although, that would be REALLY COOL if i could
  • Not in my case, I've read loads of sci-fi but I don't believe in any supernatural forces/spirits. I'm open to aliens being out there somewhere though........
  • Maybe you mean fantasy novels. SciFi stretches the limits of science and gives reasonable scenarios, BUT I suppose it's possible. Not in my case; for me, SciFi serves to sharpen my focus on my own society's functions and my moral place within it. Because the best SciFi is founded on allegories of our own earth problems.
  • it depend on you how much you taking things personally .
  • I love science fiction. I've been reading it and watching it my whole life. Fortunately I realize that it is what the name states it is, Fiction. Unlike some people I know that believe that star trek and star wars pseudo-science is real science. Sure there are some ideas in science fiction that has given scientists the desire to pursue the possibilities and create what was once just fiction. The submarine Doors opening and closing automatically Robotics and other things. But there are people out there who own the 700 page blueprints and instruction manual to a galaxy class starship who have never entered a physics class that will argue the quantum mechanics of a warp drive and swear to you it's on the verge of reality.
  • No... It may be the other way around, that those who believe in the supernatural moreso than others are more prone to read science fiction, simply because those are the type of books that more likely would include what they believe in. Does reading Sci-Fi/Fantasy CAUSE people to believe in dragons? Elves? Magicians as described? Magic as described? I don't think so. I just think those who read Sci-Fi are more open-minded about things, but it doesn't CAUSE them to believe.
