I once read a book by a guy who rode along w/ police in the US & UK, and he said that a UK cop arresting someone is a lot more likely to be jumped by the guy's friends than a US cop is. Do you think this is true, and/or are you surprised by it?

I believe that... and it does not suprise me one bit. From what I have seen, American police are scary. British police are not. American police are more aggressive, more physical, they carry more guns. British police are more like peace makers in comparison. I'm glad.
