  • They haven't matured yet.
  • Weren't you as a teen? I was.
  • Honestly their brains are not fully developed as of yet. So they only think with part of their brains and not all of it like the fully matured brain adults.
  • your brain isn't fully developed until you're 18 :} true fact! i'm not sure how old you are, but just remember: it's HARD being that age...
  • Teens are not stupid but because of lack of life experience they do make stupid choices sometimes. The sad thing is that those choices may affect the rest of their lives. Kids, stay close to your parents and trust them -- they really are not from another planet. They walked in your shoes not so very long ago.
  • I don't believe that they are "Stupid" ; they just have not learned life lessons , yet .... +5
  • There're not, your just not listening.
  • because thats what society wants them to be.
  • Some are raised, or should I say not raised, by idiot parents. parents who show no love, and do not teach them right or wrong. Also, it's not that they are stupid, it is that they have not had enough life lessons to understand everything, but think they know everything.
  • I don't think they are. They are just acting their age--immature. I've seen some really smart teenagers, especially some that were musicians. They were incredibly talented!
  • different parts of body growing at different rates than brain
  • I don't think they are stupid. They do 'do' stupid things. Maybe they do not have the same upbringing like we did. Maybe they have become used to being told too much what to do or what not to do so they miss out on finding things out on their own and learning from mistakes/experiences. Most of the time, I learned from being outside a lot and interacting with other people without my parents telling me too much about how life works. Yes, it was tough and I did get into a lot of trouble but I learned how to deal with issues on my own - and it instilled strength within me. Teach them what you know. Try to get to know them and see where their heads are.
  • I think you already answered your question in your question.
  • <sigh?> I know you must be the parent of a rebellious teen My *KIDS* are 38 and 39 and I still wonder this same thing. Simple answers are *because we let them?* My folks would not put up with a *stupid teen* or any age. Of course I am 64 and a grandpa but the rules are the same. A child does not grow up until they are 40 years old~minimum I think you should allow your kids to fail a few times to find out this world is a lot tougher then their parents I always knew this fact when I was a teen and did not burn my bridges behind me but unless a *child* knows you mean business through TOUGH LOVE~~then these *kids* will always find you an easy target~~find a book on tough love~you would be rasing better kids and they would know you really love them in the long run~~good luck~~these kids are not DUMB~~they are just playing YOU
  • Teens are stupid because they aren't adults. The sad part is adults can be stupid too.
  • Kids seem to be less challenged than ever in this instant gratification culture. Take away their mind-numbing toys and they'll learn real quickly how to be creative and entertain themselves with fresh air. :)
  • you want to know something really ironic, this is the question right under your question when i loged on to answerbag today "Im 16. My girlfriend is 15. Shes pregnant. I dont know what to do. Can you help me?" LOL seriously i heard that the part of the human brain associated with good judgment and reasoning is one of the last to fully develop, some time in the early 20's
  • Teens in general aren't stupid, they're inexperienced, which is an entirely different thing. That's why there are parents.
  • That is not true of most teens. Even on AB we have some very intelligent mature teenagers.
  • Excuse me?! (JK >.....<)
  • You just need some time to figure out what works. I did, at least.
  • Same reason everybody else is, momentary lapse of smarts.
  • Kids in early school days: My dad says (we shouldnt do this) Kids when they are about to end school: Dad, you don't know anything. These kids have their own kids: My dad used to say (we shouldn't do this).
  • there not they just seem that way to adults that have had more life experiance.
