- NEW!
Help answer this question below.
I'll miss everything.
I'll miss acting like an idiot in the street and singing loudly in public.
I'll miss being able to wear whatever I like, and not being bothered by disapproving looks at the length of my skirt.
I'll miss random parties for no reason and feeling completely out of control.
I'll miss things not being new and deciding what to do at the weekend during double maths.
I'll miss my friends being like my family.
I'll miss wearing too much eyeliner and laughing for hours at nothing.
I'll miss rubbish music and endless gossip and finishing homework on the bus.
I'll miss shoes I can't walk in and wandering home with no shoes on.
I'll miss spending whole days in the park because there's nothing better to do.
I'll miss writing because I want to and finishing paintings after months.
I'll miss so much I could cry right now.
I want things to stay the way they are for as long as possible.
I miss my teenage body. It was far more cooperative than this one.
Not having to worry about who is going to pay the bills!!
I miss the lack of responsibility and the non existent pressures to support myself and make a living.
Innocence and a sense that anything was possible.
I can't really think of anything... I'm not really sure what it's like to be a teenager. I've felt about 80 since the age of 6!
Not much actually. I didn't like school. I didn't have many friends. We moved around a lot which made it even more difficult.
I miss those feelings of 'new' or 'young' love, when you'd get so excited for a date and take forever to get ready. That was so much fun!
The feeling of being able to be and do anything
School!!!, sounds odd but i think its better than a job...Im 13
I'm not a teen, I'm 35, what do I miss? My figure. I weighed 115 lbs. and didn't realize how awesome it was! Two kids later, I miss it so.
I've got two lists, things I will miss, things I won't miss.
Things I'll miss:
Laughing 'til I'm too weak to stand.
Laughing at the stuff 'you had to be there' to make it funny.
Dealing with friends problems for them.
My confidence that everything will be fine.
The challenge of getting into clubs under age.
My confidence.
My smile.
My ability to become instantly emotionally detached in seconds.
The friends who won't stay in contact.
The banter.
The challenges.
The school trips.
Practical jokes.
Taking a fall for friends.
Going to parties, and meeting random people, who instantly become your friend because you're drunk.
The sex that means nothing.
The 'friend-sex' that you laugh about afterwards.
My simple views and morals.
My ability to not be arrested (properly).
The fights.
There's quite alot.
There's some stuff I won't miss:
Being patronised.
Parents assuming they know more than me on a particular subject, simply because they're older.
School, thinking they know what I want.
The lack of freedom.
The lack of freedom to learn from my mistakes.
The compulsive lying (by me).
The fact that I've had to hide so much from my parents.
The time I spent helping others, meaning I don't have time to help myself.
The unprofessional attitude of the Cadets.
The difficulty of getting alcohol.
The stupidity of my friends (sometimes)
The pointless bitching.
The fact I can't get a weapons licence.
The lack of money.
The fact that adults are rude to me, simply because I'm a teenager, and they assume I'm a yob or skinhead or whatever.
The fact that even if I'm polite to an adult stranger, they won't say thankyou.
The fact that people will assume I can't talk knowledgeably on a subject.
The fact that apparently I don't know what's best for me.
The fact that I can't join the Marines yet.
The way adults will nearly always think they are right.
The way that 'Community Support Officers', who can't even pass the proper policing course, think they have the same authority as policemen/women.
God there's alot I won't miss.
I won't miss the constant anger.
I will miss being able to just trash all my responsibilities. I'm just an immature teenager acting out after all. ;)
I miss seeing things through the eyes of a teenager who knows no limits or boundaries and believing in the impossible.
The feeling that I could do anything! I was fearless!
Having no responsibilities.
To be quite honest, I really don't miss being a teenager. However, being a few years younger would be nice.
I miss not being able to lay around and not worry about getting a job or how I'm going to pay the bills...
i just turned 20... i miss being able to say im 19
Nothing
i am a teenager and i will totally miss the saftey and comfort you get coz when you leave school dat all goes away
EVERYTHING!
I will miss acting like an idiot and not getting in trouble for it....
I will miss wearing whatever the heck i want....
I will miss hanging out all the time with friends!
EVERYTHING!
other teenagers...why do all us adults forget how to have fun?
I really miss squeezing pussy spots on my face.
I am a teenager. I'll miss:
-Going out to eat and not paying for it.
-Using all that electricity...and not paying for it.
-Having lower expectations.
-Getting away with things.
-Making really funny videos on Youtube (youtube.com/funnyz) that I will probably embarrass myself with when I am 30.
-NO WRINKLES!!!! WOOT WOOT.
-Having a username like meepit.
I will miss the freedom and the ability to be irresponsible if I so choose, without the expectation that I should be more "mature".
i will miss just being able to have fun... & not having a care in the world !!!
am going 2 miss the partys and the drinking nd the boys and the fun that u hav and sneakin around goin places that ur mum and dad dont hav a clue about!i am also goin 2 miss the close group of friends that u hang about with i am already drifting away from my ex and his group of friends!
The ability to do stupid stuff and your excuse is that you're just a teenager. I'm a teen now.
im ony 17 but have had to grow up VERY VERY fast! and in all honestly the thing i miss the most is school holidays... 2 weeks of being lazy... and wow at xmas... MONTHS!!! i loved it so so much!
Driving in my car with the music cranked up and feeling free-no worries
I'll miss being having everything paid for and not having to work...Just being lazy in general lol.
I will miss the freedom I have.
well one thing i will miss is not having to pay any bills that i would have to pay.
Not having to pay bills and having a pre-baby stomach!
i'm 16 now . i think i will miss knowing that even if i mess up i still have my whole life ahead of me
I don't miss anything for my childhood or teenage years.
I'm a teenager. and i don't want to give it a bad name but i wont miss nething in the bigger picture lol. i miss being a little kid so i try to live my life and be young at heart at the same time.
Not worrying about bills I had to pay... Not worrying about my current situation with guys... Hanging out with old friends...
being with my best friend everday, before she met and married her husband we were never seperated now i never see her or get to talk to her.. i miss her
I miss the late night gatherings at our coffee shop. Nearly every night after 11pm, we'd all head to the shop and get ourselves some half-price coffee and day-olds. Nearly everyone went, so there'd always be something going on there.
I miss being able to dress how ever I want, now I work with a dress code.
Definetly just being able to sit on the couch and watch t.v. with my dad and not have to worry about anything....
A lack of responsibility! All you have to do when you are that young is go to school and maybe some chores around the house. I miss not having to pay bills, go grocery shopping, cleaning the house, taking the dogs to the vet...etc!
I will end up missing the freedom and the lack of having to do anything, my parents do everything and i just go hang with friends, i am ganna miss it so
I miss the lack off responceabilty and not paying bills.
Having close to NO responsibilities.
I will miss being able to eat whatever I want and not gaining a pound. Oh, and being high-strung. Gah, I don't want to lose those.
Sweet sweet teenage poontang.
Being a girl's first. That doesn't happen too often when you are 29.

You're reading What's one thing you miss about being a teenager? If you are a teenager, what will you miss?
Comments
Oh my dear...during the happiest parts of my life (and there have been many)I, like you, have wanted things to stay the way they were..freeze that moment of my life, because it is so perfect! As a young girl and teenager, I had a difficult time because I was very shy and younger than the other kids..so my teenage years are not something I wanted to hold on to..except, possibly on graduation day (from high school), which was a very scary proposition..going from that which is known to a big, huge, questionmark. But that was temporary. You will find many times in your life that you want to hold on to things as they are..but the thing to remember is this..if you keep holding to the old, your hands can't be free to grab on to the new...and the new will take you places that you need to explore so you can develop your writing skills and use them to bring the world to your readers! You are a very special person! :) ((hugs))
by RosieGHM Jetpacker on December 24th, 2007
A thousand hugs to you! I'm nothing special, believe me. I'm feeling a bit confused at the moment, worried about what's going to happen but I'm open to it. I'm ready to experience as much as I possibly can and if I turn out to be even half as AMAZING as you are then I'll be very happy.
by Lovehearts on December 24th, 2007
You are so kind to say that..but think about this..you are 16..I am 70..yet, here we are, communicating as if we are peers..which, in fact, we are..in every way except age (and of course experience comes with age)..I find that remarkable and treasure/value it because any means of communicating that removes the inconsequential things (like age, appearance, education, social status) is a wonderful thing! You think you are nothing special..you are wrong. You are very poetic..you express yourself beautifully..you have a lot "going for you" as they say. Confusion comes and goes..getting older doesn't eliminate it from your life..sometimes you use it to step back from something and take a breather! :)

Spaceball...are you being seriously serious? Thank you :)
by Lovehearts on March 9th, 2008
seriously
by Spaceball on March 10th, 2008
I think he means it, lovehearts. He sounds seriously sincere.
by Jodie44 on March 10th, 2008
He does. I just couldn't believe anyone would think my random list was that good.
So, it honestly means a lot. Thank you :)
by Lovehearts on March 10th, 2008
Yeah, OK, it's a random list, sure, but you worded it so that people can identify with what's on the list. IOW, you didn't just get the steak, you captured the sizzle! Not always an easy thing to do.
by Jodie44 on March 10th, 2008
Well then...Yay!
I love it, haha. Merci.
by Lovehearts on March 10th, 2008

by RosieGHM Jetpacker on April 15th, 2008
quite interesting, actually, how I have more or less the 100% opposite oppinion as you.
Okay, useless comment, but it just caught my attention how I would be able to make a list of "I wont miss" and "I'll look forward to not.." using those sentences
:/
by GreenFreak on May 11th, 2008
Not useless at all : )
Interesting, though. Because even from speaking to you a little bit, we don't seem drastically different. But hey.
You write that list, I'll read it.
by Lovehearts on May 11th, 2008
hm.. it wouldn't be what I'd call joyful litterature ;)
And it wouldn't be quite the same sentences either, more like my twisted view of it. Example: you say "I'll miss random parties for no reason and feeling completely out of control."
I say:
"I wont miss the insecurity of not knowing what's going to happen, and the fear of what the drunk people around you may do"
or
"I'll miss wearing too much eyeliner and laughing for hours at nothing." - "I won't miss having to try and figure out whether something is real beauty or just cheap chemicals, aswell as not being able to have a serious conversation with peers"
Well, you get my point ;)
by GreenFreak on May 11th, 2008
Nothing wrong with a good bit of depressing literature...And I do get your point. Mmmhhhmmm.
But maybe I'm really just that shallow ;)
The thing is though, there are two sides to everything. I can have serious conversations and look after people who've drank too much and are calling me by the wrong name while throwing up. But I'm going to miss the mindless rubbish. I am.
by Lovehearts on May 11th, 2008
well, I respect that. But I've always been the kind of person who feels unconfortable simply just by being at someone's place when the evening is getting closer. I'm a home person, and I'd say a lot of those sentences has a negative part to them
by GreenFreak on May 11th, 2008
And I respect that too :)
And I'd probably agree that a lot of those sentences have a negative part to them. But it was a truthful list. Yep.
by Lovehearts on May 11th, 2008
and a great list i might add lovehearts! xx
by Mentalmum is back on May 11th, 2008
Awwww, thanks MM xx : )
by Lovehearts on May 11th, 2008
Why would anything have to change, find a career you can express yourself in. Art, literature, music, please tell me your not going into a field you hate, because of money. Money altho nessary for survival, is over rated, chase your dreams, your job will not seem like work at all.
by Mrs.Newton the cookie lady on July 30th, 2008
Ahhh, thanks a lot for that :)
I'm going to try. I've got a year to decide what I want to do, a year left of school. I'm going to go with the chasing the dreams thing.
by Lovehearts on July 30th, 2008
I'll miss the freedom and the joy of being young. I'll miss being active and not having to work for what I want. i'll also miss my friends cuz I know that oncce i get to college I 'll have different people
by blixsr on October 30th, 2008
I love that. It's so true.
by jen6229 on November 21st, 2008
I'm almost sixty, and I still feel friends are like family, I still don't give a rat's pituti what people think, and we still have parties for no reason, laugh out loud at things that are funny, and when your older, days in the park also are fun.
You don't HAVE to loose anything but your conception of how "adults" are supposed to act.
(I still "burn rubber" occasionally!)
by Skruff on March 29th, 2009
thank god that means i can finally stop acting
by Fenchurch on March 31st, 2009
Blixsr, I totally know what you mean.
Thanks Jen :)
Skruff, thanks to you too :) I wrote this over a year ago now, goodness.
What d'you mean Fenchurch?
by Lovehearts on March 31st, 2009
that was in regards to skruffs comment. my boyfriend is always telling me to stop acting so childish, but hes 25... im 19 i think im still a teenager and i still wanna act like one.
