Ask my wife if I can use the check book. If she says "no" then we aren't in good shape. If she says o.k. without an argument, we're flush and I can afford a new lawnmower. It's real simple.

Well I always check my bank statement online to see how much I have and what has been taken out from what I've bought. Taking that information I now give myself a limit to how much I can spend a week and stick to it if possible. If you don't have online banking you need to get it. It's a real easy way to keep up with finances. Without it I would be lost and broke. lol Good Luck

I do all of my bills online. That way I can keep track of them through my email. I make sure that I put the website for each bill in my favorites list and then I check all of the websites at the beginning of every month to see what I owe and when it's due. I write it down and put it on my refridgerator. I always pay the bill three days before it's due because online you cannot make the payment on the day it's due and not get a penalty or fee. Round your bank balance down to the nearest $100. to prevent over spending. If I have paid a bill I make sure I deduct it off my bank balance even if it hasn't posted yet. I try to stay one step ahead. Overdraft fees and late payments are the last thing you want being deducted off your balance. Hope this was helpful
