Um nothing, if the human race is going to go extinct, its going to go extinct, that includes the theistic human as well as the atheist human. We die and make way for another species, or the planet dies and its all a moot point. Some theists, including C. S. Lewis, believe that the punishment for atheism is annihilation: they believe that believers go to heaven or hell depending on their actions, but atheists don't go anywhere, they just cease to exist. Atheists don't expect to go anywhere anyway so it doesn't seem like much of a punishment to them.

Why would atheists become extinct? I'm sure that one day people shall become extinct, however, I doubt that specific groups of people such as atheists, hindus, christians etc will become extinct while the rest of humanity remains.

most believing in evolutionary science believe that everything is just neurons firing and chemicals in the mind, but some seem to believe in a conciousness, but their is one thing that can save them....medicine... thus the reason to extend life as long as they can because they seem to have the want to not leave.+2

If humans are doomed to extinction, that goes for everyone, not just atheists. According to your belief system, you will be in with God once you die.. But from an Atheist opinion, you won't... Have you ever even considered the possibility that you're wrong!?.. And I've always wondered.. Considering Christianity is only 2000 years old, Is it safe to assume all the billions and billions of people who lived before Christianity are now burning in Hell? Just wondering..

Athiests believe there is no God. Not that they just don't have one & other people do. Nothing saves anybody, theists or not, from extinction. If we ever become so scarce that we will die, then we will.
