  • Evolution has no foresight. There is no 'our future survival' for evolution. Just whatever makes people survive up to reproduction age and then makes them reproduce a lot will be favored by evolution. And that's not intelligence, as a matter of fact the more educated people are the less kids they have on average. But being good looking is definately a good attribue that will be selected for. Being 'slutty' and uncaring when it comes to contraception also.. Edit: The second part of question (what's no longer useful) is a very interesting question. In some way, the whole idea of evolution for humans is no longer useful. Every organisms behavior is determined by it's genes, with one exception: Human beings. Our brains have outrun our genes. We use contraceptives, something that's suicide in an evolutionary sense. While animals 'think' eat, survive, reproduce, humans also ask 'what on earth is this all about?' And maybe genetic engineering will become common in the future. So there will be no evolution but design of desired attributes.
