I invest around 50 dollars in lotteries in every month, with no capital gains so far.
I play regularly 1-5 dollars per week. I usually play a quick pick on one of the drawing games like Lotto or Mega-millions I will occasionally play one of the scratch off games. I often win 3 or 10 dollars. The most I ever won was $300 on a scratch off game. I have a friend that says the lottery is "A tax on people that can't do the math."
I heard my sister tell her husband one time, (when they took me to the store specifically to buy tickets) "We will never win the lottery." He indignantly said, "And why not?!!"
She simply stated, "We don't play."
My wife & I play every Tuesday & Saturday. I once won $1,200. :)
