  • Forgive me for being the first to answer my own question, but from what little I’ve read, I’d give it a B+. It’s substantially accurate (and mostly positive), but it’s obvious that the Ostlings don’t have as firm a grip on Latter-day Saint doctrine as they think they do. As such, certain portions (such as p. 304’s discussion of two “Joseph Smith Translations”) are somewhat oversimplified, allowing subtle opinions to creep through—which opinions may or may not accurately convey the original historicity. Overall, a good work, but as with most works, it would be quite thoughtful to provide the reader with a grain of salt. ;-)
