  • I completely understand what you are saying their!! If a woman loves two men or vica versa they shouldn't be seen as scandalous...its not really a question you can answer, monogamy has been a way of life in our society since god knows when...its not good:P...although it can be:)
  • I think your intention with this question is much more complicated than I'm willing to delve into at the moment. Let's try to be more specific with our questions, shall we? Why do we punish ourselves? Simple answer: we descend mostly from Puritans =P What if a woman loves two men and she's seen as scandalous? Simple answer: because we value monogamy, especially female monogamy.
  • Because the punishment model of behavioral correction is much older than the rehabilitation model, or even blanket acceptance, and is thus still the de facto standard of norm alignment. Also, women, for the vast majority of history, have been second class citizens, oftentimes below the status of slaves, and seen as objects or burdens, and were treated as such. Third, when Christianity wiped out most pagan thought in the Eurasian world, so too did it wipe out any other values than its own. Stringent monogamy is the standard for women because of tradition, and I hate tradition.
