You should never release fish into a creek. If they are not native to the area, they can multiply and outdo the native species. Even if they are native, yours may have mites or something else that can infect a pristine environment...better ring the pet shop and ask what you should do with them..they may take them.

If the guppies are healthy, and the weather mild, they will survive in almost any pond or slow moving stream. If other fish are present, they may end up as food. Guppies are not so prolific that they present a danger to an environment. They are basically timid and slow swimming fish. Your tank is probably a healthier place than any outdoor placement you choose. Sometimes, if the fish are nice, stores will take them back and even give you credit. Or feed them to the Oscars and arrowanas.
