Is it illegal to use the public restroom intended for the gender opposite of your own?

I don't know if it is illegal but sometimes desperation causes you to do things you wouldn't ordinarily do. Women's restrooms are always crowded..there is always a line. Once I really was desperate and my husband checked out the men's room and no one was there, so I went in he while he stood guard outside! :)

as long as youre not exposing yourself and said it was a mistake, youd get away with it unless someone pressed charges youd get in some sort of trouble , if not publicly embarassed

Women can use the mens at any time. Men however can only use it if nobody else is in the bathroom. Knock, open, ask if anybody is in there and then enter if nobody answers, make sure nobody is in there, and proceed.

no. when i started passing, i began using the men's room. nobody cares as long as you're not making a show of it.

not sure about illegal but i have done it, hey when i gotta pee i gotta go.. i did put my hands over my eyes and say sorry guys i gotta pee, i was feeling for an empty stall some dude led the way +5

I believe it is illegal in Illinois to use the opposite gender bathroom unless you are transitioning and have a letter of passage with you stating so. Nevertheless it should not be such a big deal. There should be gender neutral bathrooms.
