REPUBLICANS: Here is your chance to explain, as I am in the dark on the issue: What is it that's wrong with Obama's health care plan? I'm not looking to pick an argument. I'd just like to understand, since the news doesn't really explain much nowadays

    It's not one thing.
    .
Insurance companies are afraid they will lose profits.
    .
Pharmaceutical companies are afraid they will lose profits.
    .
Some people just don't want the government to do anything more considering their track record for doing ANYTHING efficiently and effectively successfully is zero.
    .
Some people are just against anything that Obama does.
    .
Some people are just against anything the Democrats do.
    .
Some people have theirs and don't care about anyone else.
    .
I think the planners of the NWO just want to keep the vet bill for the herd as low as possible.

Where do I begin? There's so much wrong. Let's start out with the very idea of handing over a sixth of the national economy to a man who's never run a lemonade stand. He doesn't want to fix what's wrong with it, such as making insurance portable, capping malpractice awards or letting you buy the insurance you want instead of paying for other people's psychiatrists, chiropractors, aromatherapy and sex-change operations. No, the Man Who Broke Things wants to break the entire system down into spare parts and remake them into his own image--like we'd allow him to do that to a Boeing 777 while it was still in the air and full of passengers. Medicare is going bankrupt so he wants to extend it to everybody. The Post Office is a mess so he wants to Post Office your life and death decisions. You won't go to the doctor when you feel horrible pains; you'll go stand in line. Doctors won't decide what's the best treatment for you--statistics will, and decisions will be made by distant and heartless bureaucrats. Obama is looking more and more like an incompetent clown--you're going to let HIM rebuild the best system in the world from scratch?

When people expect the government to take care of EVERYTHING... it takes the incentive out of working hard and making things better for yourself (the American dream). It gives the government an overwhelming power to literally run your life. And finally the cost...SOMEBODY is going to have to pay for this, and Im not too keen on paying for others' bad choices. People should take responsibility for themselves.

It is not really Obama's anyway, in its current form it is a bill in The House of Representatives. There can be no real discussion of this without actually reading the bill http://docs.house.gov/edlabor/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf . Most indications are that any bill embraced by Pelosi & Co will be signed by The POTUS.

There are several clauses in the bill by which current private plans must be relinquished over time. The objective of the democrats is to take ever greater share of working people's earnings until big-government people alone can determine what you can and cannot do to get back your already-earned share. Health care is too critical to be played with in that way.

Before federal income taxes (democrat Woodrow Wilson, 1913), social security taxes (democrat FDR 1935), mandatory confiscatory withholding (democrat FDR 1943), state income taxes (eg Ohio democrat gov John Gilligan 1970), sales taxes (eg Ohio democrat gov Geo White 1936); you could make up your mind to work hard, live frugally, and be able to build your own fortune to use as you saw fit, while you are living or for when you are dead. Now that is nearly impossible with government taking a combined bite of over 50%, and they are coming after even more. Therefore you get your share of your own hard-earned proceeds only if you live to a certain age, only if you buy a certain car, only if you buy certain replacement windows, only if you get in over your head in house debt, only if you gave to the Obama campaign, or whatever other reasons the bureaucrats determine to be worthy.

As an example, notice that when O got control of GM and Chrysler, the Indiana Police and Fire Retirement Fund (people who sacrifice their lives for the safety of others) had to settle for $0.29 on the dollar of their good-faith investments while O gave the company away to the same UAW that bankrupted the companies to begin with, thanks to UAW's political support.

I have been through having a life-threatening condition. I do not want, and no reasonable person would want, to have O determining whether or not you get access to an MRI, or to surgery, or to a life-sustaining prescription based on if you are or are not one of his cronies. That is not paranoia. That is the actual behavior of him and his kind, proved time and again, over many decades.
