this answer might not be correct, but... Well, I once went to the pennsylvania amish country. There was one amish house that had electricity for a girls medical machine. Without it, breathing would have been dificult. I beleive that the level of technology depends on if they can't actually live without it, or work around the problem its meant to fix. Considering no amish people would be on AB, this might not be acurate, but it is logical!
