Slasher movies are just stabbing over and over again, splatter movies can be with other object. Hammers, bats, any form of weapons and just splatter your blood all over the place!

Splatter films include excessive amounts of gore, no matter what the concept behind the film is, as long as the gore is primary. A slasher film involves, in most cases, a serial killer or a mass murder. (Or several of them, as long as people drop like flies everywhere in the film.) The slasher genre defines itself through the portraying of countless murders-and wouldn't you know it, although not the original of the slasher genre, "Halloween" is what made that particular genre popular, and the first film features next to no gore. Splatter films usually exist as an excuse to show blood, brains and your digestive system.
