  • I think that's the whole point. That's what people are trying to accomplish. I guess some think it makes for a better pet.
  • I think some people do. But I think that people who view animals on the same level as humans, are a little bit mislead at best, honestly crazy at worst
  • Well, because they wouldn't be pets if they were all wolves! Dogs and wolves are different animals. Wolves are wild animals and dogs are domestic animals. They are selectively bred for their strengths in certain areas depending on what they will be expected to do. I do agree that this has gone a bit far since there are fewer working dogs and more dogs that are only pets these days, but again, if they were all wolves there wouldn't be any pets or working dogs.
  • Yes they do...I am one of them but I also believe in fixin dogs, you know s/n them to control pet population. As for the other they have been selective breeding dogs before you or I was born so sorry have no clue.
  • I love my mutt. He is my only friend unfortunately :( i don't try to destroy his instincts to chase cats, or put a shock caller on him. its not right. its just like controlling a human. anyways i agree. Ankle biters are OK but i would prefer an oversize mastiff any day.
  • The selective breeders do not love dogs, they love money. They do not care that the dogs they are producing are becoming increasingly genetically feeble because of their work. They don't care that the poor female dogs are breeding back to back. Worse still are the people who buy these poor burdened animals and keep the breeders financially healthy. The people who work in animal shelters love animals. DON'T BUY PUREBREDS. ADOPT A HEALTHY MUTT!
  • because we love them so much we dont think they will ever need to survive outside the home. They will always be our pets.
  • Why would we love a wild coyote that is always lunging for our throats?
  • Those involved in selective breeding industry do not love dogs. These people are the breeders, the 'consumers' (I don't use that word lightly, those who seek out expensive pedigree dogs are merely consumers), the dog shows... We had to rescue a pedigree/pure bred dog that was going to be killed by its 'dog lover' breeder purely because it was not 'perfect' (that imperfection was not being deformed & unhealty enough) enough to sell for profit or breed with. Also, there are other so called dog lovers who, while claiming to be appauled by selective breeding and the health complications that arise, are not much better themselves. The docking of ears and tails which is still legal in a few countries (U.S. being one of them with regards to ears, I don't know the status of tails) is animal cruelty and thankfully would result in a prison sentence in the UK, and the vet being stripped of his right to practice. It's very sad. I think far too few of the self-professed dog lovers actually love dogs.
  • Well we humans tend to destroy everything we love, not just dogs. It's our way to say : I love you!
