No actually, I don't. If I knew them, or it was in a work environment I would find it very rude. But if they are strangers, not at all.
-
If it's obvious that they are talking about me, yes that is very rude. In that case, I would just politely say, "Excuse me, were you talking to me?" .. that might give them the hint that I heard them!!

yes i find it rude

Happens all the time at the nail salon I go to. They talk in their native tongue and I feel sometimes they are talking about me...+5

I don't give a crap what strangers do, they can tell me I am ugly, fat, stupid to my face and it wouldn't bother me. I was in a waiting room today and no one talks, I sit and look at People magazine and then the doctor sees me early.

Do you know that people don't speak another language just because they think others can't understand? Americans in their full ignorance think that everything is about them. They speak another language because it is their language and they feel more comfortable communicating in it, they'd do the same regardless of whether others are there or not. That's just the way it is
-
No. It's rude of you to be listening to their conversation.
-
Not as rude as someone tweakin' my nose! ;-)
-
No. I do not think it is rude, I think it is rude when you are in a room and there are two people talking and the whole room has to hear what they are talking about.
-
If am not a participant in the conversation I couldn't care less what they are saying or what language they use.
-
Whenever people gather anywhere, it is polite to see if there is a common language, use that language, and speak only about topics that are appropriate to the situation.
