I have been told that one should always hand-write their Book of Shadows to help them remember it and to empower the book, and onesself. Do you hand write yours or do you keep a computer-file? Is there anything wrong with having one on a computer?

Well, your electronic Book of Shadows could get deleted by a computer mishap. Of course, this is why you should back up your data.

My Book of Shadows is handwritten, and I do believe that it adds more of an essence of yourself to one of the most important documents a Witch can have. Of course, if it's easier to put on the computer, there's no rule anywhere that says you can't. Like Photon said; back up your file. Preferably a couple of times over.

We (my cousin and I) wrote our by hand in computer code. We each memorized the code and wrote it. Kind of silly now, but we thought if we did it that way it'd mean more to us.

Mine is handwritten. I enjoy the the ritual of adding to it, the smell of the pages from the incense past burned, the texture of the cover. The process is very fimiliar to me and I find it relaxing. I just don't get the same emotional or meditative reward from typing at the computer. I have heard (no personal knowledge) of many pagans who do keep theirs on a disk, or sometimes their harddrive. If that works for them, super.

The practice of writing your Book of Shadows (BOS) by hand is geared toward helping you learn and understand the contents in your BOS, as well as to saturate your BOS with your own personal energy. There is nothing wrong with keeping a BOS on a computer; however, I keep mine in both forms.

My BoS is hand written; I wouldn't do it any other way. Maybe it's because I'm creative, and don't like things to be too organized. Otherwise, whatever it is you do, it should be done with belief and devotion. I also believe that the fact that it is hand written does make it that much more intimate and personalized. I guess that's up to the person.

i have my BOS hand-written because i can remember it easier and i can always go to the exact page that i am looking for without having to search through my entire book. there is nothing wrong with having your BOS on a computer file. i can remember my BOS better when i hand written it better than i could having it on a computer.
