When appropriate, I can do so well. But if they can't be bothered to be nice, I get the broom and sweep them aside.

I can be really good at it .. I've done it for years in jobs. Sometimes you just have to make the best of a bad situation and put up with it. However, if I have a choice and can get away from people like that ... I run like the wind!! Plus, as I get older, I will put up with it less and less. Great question Rosie.

I don't have time for people like that. My father was like that, and I've promised myself that I will never live like that again.

It's not the misunderstanding reason why I do sometimes because I make myself very clear, and usually I don't care what people think of me or not. When I do walk on eggshells it's mostly to spare someone some hurt feelings.

It really depends on the situation. At work, since I supervise quite a few people, there is always the same few that come in my office whining about some of the most trivial things (mostly the younger ones). I basically have to tell them that they are going to be dealing with all types of personalities in any job and they have to learn to deal with them. We will go through different scenarios and the different ways of handling them. Of course, if it is something major, I'll step in. Otherwise, I'm usually pretty upfront with people. I try not to be disrespectful (usually). If they don't like it, their problem. I guess I have a lower tolerance for it than most.
