One theory is that priests molest young boys because of the abstinence in their lives. But, my question is, why not little girls? At least they're female. Or are those priests all gay as well as sexually deprived?

sigh. no.. being celibate does not cause one to be a pedophile.some priests do both, most do not do these horrible actions. and there is a difference between sexually deprived and celibate.

You are confusing pedophilia with homosexuality. The CRIME of pedophilia is primarily one of power, not sex, like the crime of rape (which such actions also are, by definition). Perhaps some pedophiles attack whenever there is an opportunity, no matter what the gender - and more parents trusts young boys around priests than young girls. Whether they are gay or not, and have attraction to ADULTS of their own sex, is a completely different question.

Being a celibate priest does not make you a pedophile or a homosexual. There are as many pedophiles in other religions and schools. In fact in every walk of life that involves mixing with children.

Im just going to throw a theory out here, and No ofcourse I dont think that all priests are pedofiles. Perhaps because of their urges and beliefs some priests felt it was safest for them to enter the priesthood and become completely abstinant with the intention of never acting on their urges, instead of getting the the help they needed. Bad choice yes.

When you select for men who don't care about giving up sex with women, you are selecting for men who want sex with whom? I think there are two kinds of men who enter the priesthood: those who are altruistic and committed to God and are willing to make the sacrifice and those who didn't like women in the first place and are happier having sex with others who don't fall into the adult woman category and to whom, frankly, the priesthood gives them greater access. Child molesters go where they are most likely to get access to their prey. That includes places where children will be and where they will be trusted with those children. That means that they don't stay away from school, daycare centers, Chucky Cheeses or the church: they go there on purpose. They are often willing to go to the effort of getting a degree in order to get access to kids. That said, I think your original premise is flawed. I think there were plenty of little girls who were molested too.

Because generalizations are so accurate; a few perverts molested some children so now all priests must be molesters, and it must be because of abstinance right? get real.

Celibacy is an unbiblical rule. It is also not consistent with the basic design of humanity. As such, I believe it impedes good human mental health. It invites trouble, as we've seen.

Priests did molest girls as well, when they could. But generally, priests ran the boys schools, nuns ran the girls schools. The priests has more access to boys than to girls. And even outside single-sex schools, a priest paying a lot of attention to a boy was regarded as being fatherly, whereas one paying a lot of attention to a girl would have aroused suspicion even in the 1960s. They simply had more opportunity to molest boys than girls.
