Are visitors from other planets such a ridiculous concept when you consider that some civilizations may be millions of years more advanced than us?

the issue here becomes the vast expanse of space :) if a civilization is, say, a million years more advanced than us, then that only limits us to a certain region of space, where they'd have gotten into touch with us so far, and that would also mean they'd have to know a) our planet exists b) we were worth coming to
