Help answer this question below.

I have a 1989 dodge ram d100 and the rear axle makes a squeaking noise when accellerating, also my axle is wet underneath. also when shifting from park to drive it clunks very loudly. whats wrong with it? drive shaft has no play. is it my diff? its 2WD

    You have a bad universal joint.Its not in the axle housing.

    Sounds like its time to visit the junkyard and get another rear axle...Dont bother tearing down the old one and replacing parts just drain the oil out of the replacement and fill w/ "Lucas oil stabilizer".and swap the complete axle housing...
