  • No. He was a drunk and a druggie and he was convinced he was posessed by the spirit of an Indian that died in front of him. I'm sure that could have happened since he was very open to stray entities with the amount of drugs he consumed. But mainley he was a poet and an artist at heart. I saw him live at the Auditorium in Chicago in about 1970 or so. He was wonderful.
  • I doubt that; I think he was antiestablishment starting with his parents idea of who he was supposed to be; then escilated with his fans idea of who they thought he was, nobody cared what he wanted to be and the reality of this along with substance abuse consumed him into oblivion.
