There are many programs that can gather ALL sorts of system information. The friendliest one and one I like quiet a bit for other reasons is PC Wizard. http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php As soon as I start it and it finishes loaiding, I get: "Manufacturer : Acer Incorporated Mainboard : Acer Unspecified Chipset : Intel i945GU Processor : Intel Atom N270 @ 1600 MHz Physical Memory : 1012 MB (1 x 512 DDR2-SDRAM ) Video Card : Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family Hard Disk : WDC (160 GB) Monitor Type : N089L6-L02 - 10 inches Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Network Card : Atheros Communications Inc AR5006 family 802.11abg Wireless NIC Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 DirectX : Version 9.0c (March 2006)" Not bad. Didn't even have to hit anything. Just starting the program tells me right up front that I have an Atheros AR5006 family. "Family" means a range of cards though, and I want more specific info. Clicking on the Network button gives me: "Network Card : Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter" Woot! I have an AR5007EG. Hitting that just for giggles gives me: " General Information : Type : Wireless LAN Speed : 54 Mbp/s IEEE : 802.11g MAC Address : (deleted for privacy) Encryption : (deleted for privacy) Authentification : (deleted for privacy) Connected : Yes Provider : (deleted for privacy)" Two clicks and I know all about my wifi.
