You are probably right. The bible wasn't written until after 400 years when it was supposed to have happened. Everything was handed down from generation to generation by word of mouth.

No. Some of the stories are fiction made to prove a point or a lesson. Jesus told lots of parables (stories) to prove a point. Some of the Old Testament is that way also. The basic threads are real but many stories are told in order to prove God's love, punishment, consequence of bad behaviour, etc. You will find many of these stories in other old time religions (Babylonian, etc.) also. The flood story is one of them.

i dont think so, as long as you know in your heart that the lord is your savior, and follow the 10 commandments then you will enter in the kingdom of heaven. there are plenty of bible believers and they are very bad people.
