It's always repeating itself. Since the Universe is composed of fundamental physical behaviors which govern it's propagation and evolution, these behaviors will form patterns. These patterns are reflected in everything, even the comings and goings of mankind. There's a reason for the popularity of 'this has all happened before and it wall happen again'. The tides of history are like waves - there seem to be high and low points every 150or so years, about the same time it takes a generation to be completely replaced.
