If by child you mean under 18, then maybe when they learn of adoption at 16 or whenever they learn now and understand it as a healthy thing then would be a good time to let them know

I think people should tell adopted children they're adopted as soon as possible. It NEVER turns out well if they wait a long time, and I would hate to have something like that kept from me. As I kid finding that out, they won't really appreciate it, but later in life I'm sure they'll be glad they're parents were honest.

I think that it all depends on how old they where at the time of adoption, I myself was adopted at the age of 12, therefore I allways knew. I think that if you adopted a baby and only knew you as their parent, I would keep it that way, I dont see anything good coming out of informing them otherwise.

It is my opinion that you should. That would be quite a blow to learn after years of thinking something else. My daughter was old enough to know what was going on during the whole process so it wasn't an issue, but I would have been open about it anyway.
