  • I think the individuals serving are brave and strong. I have great respect for them.
  • I think they are great and I support them.
  • I respect them. It's not an easy job and I appreciate their dedication and the sacrifices they make for their country.
  • They deserve all great respect for what they do. It is a shame that the administration has botched things such as getting body armor to the troops.
  • I think we should thank our lucky stars that we have people courageous and selfless enough to sacrifice their lives for our country!
  • glad they are there.
  • They are the most effective fighting force in the world. They are professionals and highly trained. They respect their commanders and each other. Despite all the negative publicity generated by political commentary, the US military is the most ethical fighting force in existence. They have rules of engagement. When these rules are violated, they are answerable. We play by rules that we set, and various international conventions. We do not target civilians, as some believe. That is a misconception that needs to be corrected. We do not car bomb civilians in the markets or at prayer. That would be the other guys. Let the trolling begin! Just don't expect a reply.
  • Somebody has to do all the fighting.
  • someones gotta do it
  • I think they are a formidable force that generally does their country proud.
  • I am a proud supporter of our men and women in the armed forces. I love them for their self sacrifice and detacation to their country. With out them no one would be safe. May they all come home safely to the waiting arms of their families. They have my undying gratatude. I also have had the unbridled joy of being loved by one of "The Few, The Proud, A Marine." May his soul rest easy.
  • Overall, I pity them. They are normal people who decided to serve our country and are now placing themselves in harms way in a dangerously ineffective/inefficient manner as a result someone else's flawed strategic planning. We give Halliburton money hand-over-fist, but we can't get our men decent equipment. And I am almost wondering if advances in medical technology are humane. Injuries that would have been fatal in Vietnam are now survivable... if you call dealing with the psychological trauma without the benefit of at least minimal aid from the underfunded VA. As much as I joke about the Air Force being a bunch of prissy little pansies, the Army being filled with people who the USMC rejected, or Marines not being able to be called "Jarheads" anymore because we now put brains in jars, I do so purely in jest and I'm sure all three feel the same about the Navy. And for those of you who are against the War, PLEASE don't take it out on the troops. Most of them don't want to be there any more than you want them to be there. Especially not the ones that have spouses and/or children back home that may be widowed/orphaned.
  • We use to be reaspected around the worl as the best fighting force and teh ones you could count on to be there in need. Now the men and women haven't changed- they are still good people doing their best. We are now feared and disrespected around the world. Bush is 6 years has turned amerika into an agresser and playgournd bully. I travel out of the states several times a year to Europe or Asia. Over the past 6 yars the people have done a 180 degree shift regarding the amerikan government. Thsy seem it as agresive, hostile, and selfserving; will to lie or cheet inorder to gain more wealth, no mater how many people are hurt or killed. WE HAVE GOT TO ADMIT WRONG AND REBUILD OUR GOOD REPUTATION! We are good people with bad leaders and policy.
  • I greatly respect our military's capability, training, record, and dedication. I couldn't have more praise for the men and women of our military. The politicians that make decisions to send them to war are a different story.
  • I like some of the men in uniform (sorry!)
  • We are the bullies of the playground of the world...
  • The same thing I think about ALL military. They are the terrorists of the planet. And the American military heads the list!
  • Unbelievably, excessively, mind-numbingly over-powered. If you want to have a country vaporised, the US Army can do it : ) (lol, I'm not saying that's what happens, it obviously isn't, I'm saying that the US Army has a firepower/personel ratio hundreds of times higher than any other Army currently in existence) That being said, why the F**K does the US Government spend $200b EVERY YEAR to maintain & improve it? Can you say 'paranoia'? My only problem with the US Armed Forces is the amount of money spent on it... The next highest in the world is I think China at like, $5b / year? ... You spend 40x more money on your weaponry than anyone else in the world, that money could -EASILY-, -COMPLETELY- wipe out global poverty, it could potentially lead to a cure for Cancer, or a breakthrough in any number of areas... That's just $200b, 'one' year's worth of money taken away from the US Army, and you have yourself a new Golden Age of Humanity... : / Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the people who serve in it (apart from maybe the willingness to kill people if you're told to...), infact I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the amount of courage it takes. My problem is with the ludicrous amounts of money -wasted- on being 2000 steps ahead of anyone else in the world
  • It's awesome!
  • From experience, working with them... they are the most laziest troops I have ever come across. And the way that they treat the people of Iraq when I was there is uncalled for. What you guys see on television is just a cover up of what they do behind the scenes. I have seen with my own two eyes. Those who will downrate me will just be having a sulk & trying to defend them.
  • The US military is mostly well trained but limitedly equiped while in Iraq... There is good & bad to be said about those within it... I pity our troops to be forced to go fight on a personal grudge with a bad leader! :-(
  • The US military is mostly well trained but limitedly equiped while in Iraq... There is good & bad to be said about those within it... I pity our troops to be forced to go fight on a personal grudge with a bad leader! :-( I SUPPORT my Marine brothers despite the situation & I hope MORE OF THEM come home safety & in one piece!
  • I like them, I like what they do and how they do it. I don't like their political bosses and I think they stuff things up way too often and it is the military who have to back their words. I feel sorry for a military that has incompetent bosses. I like the military of my own country too. I like the fact they go a do a fantastic job in a professinal manner and in some of the most rotten places in this world where half the time the people don't want them there and try to harm them. I don't think the politicos of my country deal them a fair deal however, I am glad, very glad, that they will be there if I ever need them. An American military too. All good guys.
  • What they do each day for freedom around the world is awesome. They are a part of an all volunteer force that have chosen to serve their country this way. I know many soldiers and their families personally and know what they all go through all the time. It's not easy on any of them and I'm glad we have people of the caliber I am lucky enough to know protecting our country.
  • They make me proud. I truly appreciate the sacrafices they make in the interest freedom. Anyone who sees the highly ethical tactics of the American military as somehow evil is sincerely misguided and forming an opinion not based in fact. If not for the efforts of the American military over the last century the world would be a much uglier place and a lot of the world's people who enjoy their freedom (and often take it for granted) would not have said freedom.
  • It's being wasted.
  • USA: All the Way! P.
  • It is the most evil murderous organisation in the world. They basically operate as mercenaries for big business, protecting corporate interests around the world. They have committed unbound atrocities. They have raped, burnt and murdered their way through South America, South East Asia and anywhere else where US corporate interests are threatened.
  • Support the Troops but NOT Support what they are doing? BS. Whenever someone says this, they aren't supporting the troops at all. They also don't know what they are talking about. They are over there protecting us. I don't want to stick around and find out what will happen to us over here by doing nothing over there.
  • The greating fighting force on earth, and the most honorable and always maintain the highest moral standard versus any other army in the world. Beyond the few bad apples that do bad things, the US military is the highest disciplined and I am very proud that they represent my country.
  • I think they are the greatest people ever. They are willing to lay their lives on the line to protect their country. I have the upmost respect for our Armed Forces Men and Women. They are the reason German isn’t the official language of the United States of America or France.
  • Misguided at best! Rude and crude most of the time! Even their command people are grossly ignorant of the realities of life today! Their only redeeming activities are when they are sent in to assist in emergencies! Then they shine, if allowed to do something!
  • I thank them for what they do, and on the other side of the coin I detest the liberals who do not appreciate them and do not understand what it took for them to have the freedom they have. The U.S. military is the most effective, most moral, most amazing entity working for freedom and liberty for people the world has ever known.
  • The best in the world, not the largest, but the best.
  • None better!
  • Those are my friends and family. Seriously.
  • The American Military is the world most high trained combat ready force in the world. It current stands at 1.4 million active and 1.5 million reserve personnel. It is the best military in the world all around. BUT there are many things wrong with it. For example the US military budget is 7 times ithe amount of the worlds second highest military budget (United Kingdom,) standing at 583 billion dollars. This huge amount really isn't necessary because the United states is bearing the brunt of research costs that all of nato is benifiting from out of basically stubbornness. Why shouldn't the USA,UK,Fr,Germany, Canada, EU, etc share the cost of military research via joint research projects. More than half of the standing military budget is in research and there are many cases where the research monies are either wasted or literally spent on other things. (Also I should note that many of the personnel in the Standing army, navy, and air force are not "combat ready" in other words they are landlocked and though counted as soldiers could not preform that function. This problem is even worse in the EU, where it is estimated that in some areas of the EU militaries close to 40% of the military personnel are not fit to leave the national borders, amazing!) Anyway the US Taxpayers are are paying on a military budget that in many ways could easily be cut down without harming its current combat effectiveness at all. By removing base personnel via technological modernization and by sharing the burdens of defense research with other key NATO members (who get the tech anyway when they take apart our new designs) I truly believe close to 200 billion dollars could be removed without any large scale negative effect. P.S. Just thought I'd share a story my uncle a lieutenant General told me.In Oregon there is a Brigadier General of 30 years who oversees part of the region. Being in the military for so long he naturally has clout. Anyway the US was researching a new weapon called the metal frisbee bomb. Basically a frisbee grenade....that weighed 25 pounds. Anyway the general managed to land this project, and get some of its operations at some of his bases. He then proceeded to skimp off the research budget for improvements around the base, his personal aircraft, etc. After 1.3 billion dollars a report was issued saying that a 25 lb frisbee bomb wasn't feasible for developement or field use, but the general via friends in Congress etc, managed to keep the project and its funding coming in until when all was said and done cost the taxpayers 7.1 billion dollars. Interesting story no? As our school districts scrape by and we are all burdened by significant taxes this goes on. Anyway, our military is the best, just not get enamored; thats when this sort of corruption gets even worse. USA!
  • i'm proud of my service, acheivements and honorable discharge, but i have to admit it wasn't for me. far too structured an environment. new ways of doing things or imprving things seemed to be blocked at most avenues. it's no wonder there was/is so much inefficiency. i do understand, though, why it's that way. there has to be a small sacrifice in efficiency to maintain discipline.
  • I liked them enough to join.
